Abstract:

The region growing is one of the methods to segment regions in an digital image. In this paper, the authors present the research of the difference region growing methods such as the basic region growing, the region growing by statistic and the region growing by watershed algorithm. Besides, this paper proposes a region growing algorithm to segment oil spills in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images. The programme is built by programming language Matlab 2010 and using the ALOS PALSAR data.
