Abstract:

Foraminifera has been studied in Vietnam in various scales for oil and gas survey as well as geological and mineral maps establishment. Thua Thien-Hue – Da Nang coastal zone (0-30m of water depth) is characterized by the diversity of ecology and sensitivity to the change caused by collating process of continent-ocean. In this study for the first time in Vietnam in the project entitled “A survey on the geological characteristic, geological dynamic, mineral geology, environmental geology and geological hazard forecast in the Thua Thien-Hue – Binh Dinh coastal zone (0-60m of water depth), scale of 1/100.000”, the Center for Ocean mineral, we have defined 80 species of 41 genus, 25 families, 5 sub-Ordos of foraminifera ordo. Based on the obtained characteristics and the level conservation of the fossils, two important foraminifera complexes have been found namely: the shallow coastal complex and the shalow sea near coastal complex. Especially, some of the foraminifera species have chracteristic for the age definition. The authors have defined the possible age of the sediment in the studied area as Holocene
