Abstract:
The exploration of oil and gas in Vietnam has made a remarkable and corroborative step after more than 30 years. Much amount of oil and gas has been discovered. There are only several fields/structures that have sufficient conditions in order to develop and bring to production. Most of the remaining discovery has not been put into field development due to the complex of geological conditions, small hydrocarbon in place, and ineffective investment in the downturn of oil and gas industry. Therefore, the searching of solutions for production and oil recovery from small and marginal fields to ensure energy security becomes very important. Moreover, it has political meaning to protect territorial sovereignty. In this article, the authors focus on analyzing and evaluating for small and marginal fields in Nam Con Son, Cuu Long and Malay-Tho Chu basin which have been developing as well as discussing about the challenges to bring these field into production.
