Abstract:

Records on exploration and updated documents on mining show that geological structures as well as coal‐bearing density in some areas of the northeastern coal basin have many changes as compared to previous results. Basically, the Bao Dai coal Strip has still a common structure and is a completed synclinorium, but the principal axis of synclinorium slips to the north. South slope of synclinorium exists two folds and the axes of two folds run approximately parallel to the principal axis. Because of a change in the structure, the central portion of the Bao Dai coal strip in the northern of Yen Tu, Nam Mau, Vang Danh become higher and stratigraphy of coal‐bearing in the central portion of Bao Dai strips is not deep as predicted in advance. The Pha Lai ‐ Ke Bao Coal Strip is formed between two regional faults in which Trung Luong is in the north and the fault is in the south. Based on the existing problems, new information on the above‐mentioned coal basin, and purpose for preparing resources and strategy for coal industry development, we need to invest more in researches on geological structure of coal basin. Thereby, the potential of coal‐bearing is determined for each structural mass and all northeast coal basin and also selection of investable exploration regions of mines at a depth below ‐300m provides high economic efficiencies.
