Abstract:

Luc Yen area, Yen Bai province is assessed to be of rather large potential in marble for producing facing stone and calcium carbonate powder. Research for economic evaluation of marble resources in the area is not only of scientific significance but also of practical value in management and planning for exploration, and contributes to enhancing the economic value of the quarries. The research results show the following : - The marble recovery value in Luc Yen area is rather high and is controlled by the sale markets and using industries. The economic efficiency of the quarrying enterprises depends on the recovery ratio of dimension stone and marble for producing fine and superfine calcium carbonate powder meeting the standard for export. - To expand the market and increase the economic advantage of marble here it is necessary to invest in deep processing technology. It is also necessary to use integratedly the marble in the area for different industries, ranging from production of facing stone, art stone, calcium carbonate powder, cement to that of rubble, crushed stone to enhance the economic efficiency and ensure rational use of this mineral resource. - To enhance the economic value of the quarries combined with protection of resources and environment, it is necessary to adopt a master plan for investigation, exploration, quarrying, processing and rational use of marble in the area for the period 2015 – 2020, with vision to 2030
