Abstract:

Recently, Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD) is being developed to convert coarse grain metal and alloys into ultrafine grained material, especially constrained groove pressing (CGP) method. The obtained grain size and mechanical properties are influenced by die’s geometry, load, temperature and the times. In the paper, the authors concentrate on the geometries’s role. Based on results, the authors designed and manufactured prototype CGP dies applied on AZ31 alloy. We also carried on AZ31 sample up to 6 times. This paper presents briefly the results the CGP dies and AZ31 sample’s grain size
