Abstract:

Three-phase induction motors are so common in industry that in many plants no other type of electric machine can be found. However, direct on line starting of large squirrel cage induction motors may present difficulties for the motor itself, and the loads supplied from the common coupling point because of the voltage dips in the supply during starting, especially in the case of a weak power system. This paper taking three phase induction motor soft starter for research object, such as principle analysis and design main modules based Matlab simulation software. Simulation of soft statarter helped us to reach right setting and modified values yielded the motor be started successfully without over-current. The simulation results indicated that soft starter was used in motor start advantages.
