Abstract:
Land degradation is a common phenomenon in large areas of our country, especially in the mountains. Predicting the area which has different risk of degradation is very enormous significance in land use planning. This paper introduces assessment model based on multi‐criteria approach ‐ using GIS and remote sensing to identify areas at various risk of soil degradation. On the basis of current land degradation map, integrated with seven intensified factors ‐ factors that increase the risk of degradation, (include rainfall, slope, land cover, soil type, farming practices...) to build a map of warning the risk of land degradation with three levels: 1. high; 2. average; 3. low. The results show that the high area is 360.961 ha (19,4% of the study area) occurring on the local with high slope, low cover of landuse and especial with high rainfall. This model allows us to identify quickly and quantify areas at different risk of degradation (spatial location and area). This will be the basis for the management of land use planning logically, and also arranges suitable farming season, crops for each area.
