Abstract:

In this paper, we present a new algorithm to restore colors for old photographs and films. The algorithm is based on the affine bleach model a method of multichannel color histogram newly constructed in RGB color space. The affine bleach model, proposed by R. Gschwind and F. Frey, show the density of color layers depending on major factors influential to the fading process. The algorithm focuses on correction points of medium exposure, especially nearly grey points, with iterative approximation method.
