Abstract:

Flood hazard zoning can be implemented by various different methods, of which GIS and modelling are considered the most common used methods. This paper introduces the principles of constructing common used models in flood hazard zoning such as deterministic models, heuristic models and statistical models, as well as presents advantages, disadvantages and the application requirement of these methods. On that basis, this paper will give the scope and condition to apply these models in the context of Vietnam and also how to select the most suitable model to zone flood hazard.
