Abstract:

The surface area of the natural surface is significantly different with the area determined on the reference surface, whether the projection plane or the ellipsoid surface, especially in areas with high levels of sawing. The article points out the necessity of determining surface area along with measurement geodetic (projected) area and presents method and test results of determining surface area by the ArcGIS TIN tools as an application of nationwide DEM product.
