Abstract:

This paper presents an effective pantented solution to bothvalidate the actual distribution of fracture networks in reservoirs to ensure the accuracy of the large, complex fractured medium, and matrix-fracture exchanges interaction at the micro level with a minimum number of grid-blocks. By applying the model of discrete fracture network with 3 ideas: Using explicitly discretize thefracture network with an optimum number of numericalunknowns, accord with large computational domain; The matrix-fracture exchanges are representedusing the dual-porosity formalism; Flows between matrix blocks are simulated. Combining the basic equation used similar equations of Barenblatt and Zelthov [4] the proposed simulation method is general as it enables todeal both with densely-fractured reservoirs and with fieldscrossed by sparse or irregular fracture/fault networks. Itsflexible implementation enables to find an optimalcompromise between the accuracy of solutions and thecomputational requirements.
