Abstract:

The paper introduces new findings on copper characteristics of AnLuong area. Results can be summarized as follow. - Copper minerals in study area have unique characteristics and can be divided into three categories. Copper ores are mostly concentrated in the first two categories. The ores are distributed in recrystallization limestone, dolomite marble with quartz alteration or chlorite schist, sericitic alteration, quartz alteration, where the ore bodies in recrystallization limestone, dolomite marble with quartz are highly prospective. - The ore bodies of industrial value are in network type or lens, with stable to inconstant depth, small to medium in size. Copper contents are ranging fro <0.003% to 8.67%, with average 0.605% and inhomogeneous distribution. - Ore structures are in distributed type, filled network, knobs or sticking on fracture surfaces. Copper ores are hydrothermal at low to low-medium temperature. The minerals are mostly chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, coveline… - Mineral conjunctive combinatory is quartz-pyrite-chalcopyrite-bornite-pyrotine (I), calcite-pyrite-chacopyrite (II), belonging to hydrothermal type and oxide -hydroxide (III), belonging to weathered type. Among these 3 mineral generations, the first 2 have industrial value. - Beside copper, the ore bodies are also contained Au, Ag, Pb, Zn… These are valuable accompany minerals and it needs to be surveyed in next stages to elevate the economic value of the mines and to protect the nature environment for sustainable development
